A busy bridge in Weston-super-Mare is getting a significant £80,000 upgrade to its road and paths this week.
Drove Road bridge, which links Locking Road to Drove Road roundabout, closed to traffic for five days from yesterday (Monday 24 June) as the road is resurfaced and paths are patched.
A route for pedestrians is staying open throughout the improvements, which are being carried out for North Somerset Council by contractors Skanska.
Access remains for businesses and homes on both sides of the bridge.
Vehicles need to follow the diversion route via Hildesheim Bridge, Francis Fox Road and Locking Road.
The resurfacing work will keep the road moving for many years to come, while the pavement improvements will smooth out lumps and bumps and protect the surface from further deterioration.
The scheme is part of the council’s ongoing maintenance programme of its 1,100km network.
