Hear tales of nautical women

Discover the forgotten role of women in the age of sailing and intriguing nautical history next week.

Author Rosemary Caldicott is appearing at Pill Library and Children’s Centre next Wednesday (19 February) to bring to life tales of women in sailor towns – including Pill.

Hear the struggles to keep out of the dreaded workhouse, resisting prowling press gangs, and the courageous and skilful cross-dressing women sailors who went to extraordinary lengths to hide their gender.

Rosemary is appearing at 2pm. Tickets are free but advanced booking is essential. Visit www.eventbrite.co.uk/nautical-women
